Think of the following as a recipe and its ingredients. I will give you what you need to input into the URL, and you will add your personal information.

Recipe

The format recipe is:

rtsp:// [USER] : [PASS] @ [ADDRESS] : [RTSP PORT] /Streaming/Channels/ [CH] 0 [STREAM TYPE]

Ingredients

You will need to input the following in the recipe above:

[User]

The user refers to the username you use to access your Hikvision camera or recorder.

[Pass]

The password used to access the log-in for the camera or recorder.

[Address]

[RTSP port]

This refers to the RTSP port on your device. The default number is usually 554.

[CH]

The channel number you want to connect to

[Stream Type]

Choose from the following:

0: Used for the mainstream and provides the highest resolution.

1: Substream, which is generally faster but with lower resolution

External IP addresses

For this example, we will pretend that the device’s local IP is 200.238.0.1 and its RTSP port is 554. Thus its the format is as follows:

Mainstream

rtsp://admin:password@200.238.0.1:554/Streaming/Channels/101

Substream

rtsp://admin:password@200.238.0.1:554/Streaming/Channels/102

Local IP addresses

For this example, we will pretend that the device’s IP address is 192.198.2.100 and its RTSP port is 554. The format is:

Mainstream

rtsp://admin:password@192.198.2.100:554/Streaming/Channels/101

Substream

rtsp://admin:password@192.198.2.100:554/Streaming/Channels/102
