You can use the Dahua DVR online viewer software to connect to your recorder and manage your cameras remotely. In this article, I explain how to do that.
Dahua has a piece of software called Smart PSS, which is very easy to use.
Let's talk about this topic...
The Dahua Smart PSS software
Smart PSS is a free software that allows you to add, view and manage Dahua DVRs, NVRs and IP cameras. You can download it from the Dahua website.
The picture below shows the Dahua Smart PSS software displaying a Dahua dome camera. If you take a close look, you can also notice an Amcrest camera added to the software (check the left side camera list).
Yes, the software also works with cameras manufactured by Dahua and sold under different brands (such as Amcrest, IC Realtime, and many other ones.
How to add a camera in the PSS software
Here are the steps to add a camera to the Dahua PSS software.
- Open the PSS software;
- Click the "+" signal to open the main menu;
- Click the Device configuration button;
- Click the "Add camera" button;
- Insert the camera (or recorder) IP address and port number.
The following pictures show the details of this process.
As you can see, the process is pretty simple; you just need to make sure you are using the correct IP address and port (you can check that in your camera or DVR).
Be aware that this process works for devices in the local network or devices behind a remote router with the port forwarding configured.
==> To learn more about port forwarding, please consider acquiring the Ultimate Security Camera Guide Volume 2.
If the device supports P2P, you can also add a camera, DVR, or NVR using the serial number, so there's no need for the port forwarding process.
