Zosi NVR Setup (How to add cameras)

This article is about the Zosi NVR setup and you here you can learn how to add cameras and do the basic configuration.

Pulling UTP cable from Zosi NVR

I have an 8-channel Zosi NVR Kit that came with everything necessary for the installation, including the cameras and UTP (network) cables.

A kit like that is designed for DIY installation, so it's very easy and intuitive.

Let's have a look at how to set up this security system in less than 5 minutes...

What is the box

Before the NVR setup let's see what comes in the box...

I ordered the Zosi PoE 8-channel NVR kit from Amazon and got a big box with everything inside. The picture below shows the open box.

You just need to remove everything from the box and take a look to make sure nothing is missing. This initial check-up is also good to have an idea about each component that you are about to install.

The picture below shows what is the box.

These are the components that are necessary to have your security system up and running, as you can see, there's an IP camera, power supply, mouse, screws, cables, manuals, and even stickers.

The next picture shows the NVR (Network Video Recorder) and one of the cameras connected to it using the network cable and powered via PoE (Power Over Ethernet).

Power Over Ethernet

You have to connect all the other cameras in the same way.

Zosi NVR and cameras

It's very simple, it's not necessary to use a power supply for the cameras because the DVR can power each one of them via the network cable.

The network cables come ready with the conectores and are long enough for most cases. Just in case you need a longer one buy the cat5e or cat6.

The NVR setup

Before starting, connect an HDMI or VGA monitor and a mouse to the NVR.

The setup is super simple, just turn on the NVR and wait for the system to load and identify all the cameras that are connected to the device.

You should also create a password during the setup process.

Usually, the NVR displays the cameras on the screen and starts recording, but just in case that doesn't happen you need to get into the menu and add the cameras manually.

Let's see how to do that next.

How to add cameras to the NVR

To add cameras to the Zosi NVR you just need to right-click on the screen to bring the floating menu and click on "IPC channel config Menu".

Zosi Floating Menu

In the IPC menu follow the steps to add the cameras to the NVR.

  1. Click on the "Search" button.
  2. Select the camera you want to add.
  3. Make sure the username/password is admin/admin.
  4. Click the "Add" button.

The following image shows where you have to click...

Repeat the process for every camera and it's done!

Now you have your Zosi NVR working with the cameras.

You should see all of them displayed in the monitor.

Conclusion

The Zosi NVR setup is very simple and you can do it by yourself.

You should have your footage recorded automatically as soon as the NVR is up and running but you can also do some customization later.
