The Ring Spotlight is a consumer camera

You may not understand all the features and terms that are used to describe what this camera brings, well, do not worry as we are going to go over them one by one.

First of all the Ring Spotlight is a consumer camera. Meaning you will not need a professional to install it and you can do it yourself with no problem whatsoever. Making it way easier for you.

So let's go over what you get from this camera and why it is such a good option for your home, especially since this camera has really good features for a consumer who might not need a lot of monitoring.

One of the best things about the Ring Spotlight camera is that it does not need wires is that installing it is way easier and faster. This camera works through WiFi, therefore, does not need any cable connection to work.

Since the camera uses batteries you also do not have to worry about having to buy new ones as they are rechargeable and the charger comes along when you buy the camera. Might we say they killed two birds with one stone?

Night vision

the Ring Spotlight does have night vision and day/night mode. While still having a high-definition image. This can be used when you install a camera in a dark place when the camera senses low light it turns on the infrared lights.

These lights are what allow the sensor to see in the dark. By using this the camera can record with no light whatsoever. Which can be used in dark driveways or patios in which anyone can be recognized.

Indoor and outdoor camera

You can install your Ring Spotlight camera wherever you want. However, there are places you should try to avoid so your camera will last longer and will be able to work properly.

The first thing is the temperature. In some places temperatures can be too high or too low for the camera to function, this usually happens if the camera is installed outside.

The Ring Spotlight has a minimum operating temperature of -20 degrees Fahrenheit, and a maximum operating temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit. So, if you live somewhere too hot or too cold you can still consider this camera for indoor usage.

Motion detection

Day or night you can have alerts for when movement is detection sent right to your phone so you can open the app and see who is at the door for example, from wherever you are.

The motion detectors can be triggered by cars, people, animals and other things that can trigger the cameras motion detector. But don't think you will be spammed every time a car passes down the street.

You can mess around and configure places that the motion detector can detect and therefore it will not spam you, but alert you if someone walks up to your door. This can be a very useful feature.

HD video

This camera records video with 1080p resolution, which is how many pixels you get per image. That means you are getting 2 Megapixel imaging which is the best one you can possibly get. You also get a 140-degree view which gives you a lot to loot at.

Two-way audio

From your cellphone, you can talk to anyone that is close to the camera, and since the camera has audio features anyone can talk back to you through the camera. Amazing feature to have isn't it?

The Ring Spotlight does include live streaming for all cameras, however, keep in mind you will need to pay in order to record videos. If you are okay with just having the live view you are all set, but usually, customers want to be able to check old videos.

Ring has monthly service plans that include the cloud storage and playback of all the videos. They have two separate prices that depends on what you want and how much you want to record.

The protect basic plan costs $3 a month and a total of $30 a year. It includes 60 days of cloud storage, the ability to share videos, and video reviews of missed events. However, you can also get another plan.

For $10 a month (a total of $100 a year) you can get the protected plus plan, which extends coverage on all your devices, gives you exclusive discounts and a lifetime warranty that covers theft and damage.

When you activate the camera you have one month of the protected plus plan as a trial, then you have to pay.

Customer service

Apart from the great protection plan they offer, Ring  offers 24/7 support, tools for easy installations such as videos, and the app that is also very easy to manage and use. If you need help for home installation they do offer services.

The app is quite easy to navigate through. You can easily activate the camera's speaker to be able to use the two-way audio to talk to anyone near the camera. The speaker is not overly loud but can be used for a few word exchanges.

The app also includes control of the camera lights and the activation of the alarm that is loud enough to scare any thief away in case of an emergency. The LEDs that the cameras have are also very powerful but can be dimmed.

Another useful feature in the app is the ability to adjust the motion zones which we have talked about, just know you configure it in the app, and it is very easy to set up and get through.

The Ring has two colors you can pick from, black and white. Both have a very subtle and discreet look that can definitively be used for your advantage.

Not only does the Ring Spotlight have great resolution and an amazing field of view, but it also is easy to install, and to set up. The app is incredibly simple to operate and play around with.

All of the features it comes with are incredibly beneficial such as the alarm and lights which can keep your house safe in case of any burglars, which are going to be scared off easily.

The only con that can really be a deal-breaker is the extra money you have to pay a month, but it isn't such a huge number. So that is not really a huge problem for some people.

But that concludes our Ring Spotlight review.
