The Zosi firmware update upgrade process

To upgrade the Zosi NVR, you just need to find out what is the device model, download the specific firmware from the Zosi Website and use a USB drive.

The firmware comes with a name that ends in ".rom".

Let's say for example you are about to upgrade the NVR_K9504-W, the file name is FWHI2104NE_20180403_NVR_K9504-W_2_7_11_0_21522231.rom

Just visit the Zosi Download Center to look for the firmware to your NVR.

You need to upgrade the main NVR's firmware and also the IP cameras connected to it (IPC), so it's necessary to run the process twice. Let's see how it works...

Find out the NVR model

It's important to make sure what's the NVR's model and firmware version so you can download the correct firmware file to upgrade the device.

Here are the steps:

  1. Open the main menu "General Setup" and click on "System Version"
  2. Take note of the NVR model
  3. Check what's the System version

Once you have this information move to the next step...

Upgrade the NVR

Download the firmware file from the Zosi Support Website and copy it to the root directory of a USB drive. The file is small (around 20MB).

Here are the steps to upgrade the NVR:

  1. Insert the USB drive into the NVR's USB port
  2. Open the Menu "System Setup > System Admin > System upgrade
  3. Check the box "Auto restart after the upgrade"
  4. Click on "USB storage"
  5. Click the "Start" button

The process takes from 3 to 5 minutes, you just need to wait until it finishes loading and upgrading the file. The NVR will reboot itself when the upgrade is completed.

Upgrade the IPC

Now it's time to find the IP cameras and upgrade them.

Here's how to do that:

  1. Keep the USB drive into the NVR's USB port
  2. Open the Menu "System Setup > System Admin > IPC Maintenance
  3. Select the camera you want to upgrade
  4. Click on "USB storage"
  5. Click the "Start" button

Again it's just a question of waiting until the upgrade finishes.

Conclusion

And that's how you upgrade the Zosi NVR. The process is very simple, isn't it?
