Many of the inexpensive DVRs manufactured in China use a similar chipset from the company HiSilicon, the upgrade tool works with devices that have the following chipsets Hi3520A, Hi3520D, Hi3521, Hi3521A, Hi3531, Hi3531A, Hi3535, Hi3536.

How to update a H.264 DVR firmware
Just follow the steps to update your H.264 DVR firmware
- Download and install the DVR device manager in your PC
- Make sure the DVR and the PC are in the same local network
- Open the DVR device manager and click on "IP Search"
- Select the device from the list
- Click "Browse" and look for the firmware in you PC
- Click "Upgrade"

Click the " Browse" button to look for the firmware file on your PC.
Select the firmware file.
Click the "Upgrade" button.
And it's done. Your H.264 is not updated.

It's not 100% guaranteed that the upgrade will work for your device.
Some models simply don't work. It's a try and error process.
The H.264 DVR software update works for DVRs based on the HiSilicon chipset and you just need to try it out on your H.264 standalone DVR.
