Did you get the annoying message "Silverlight Runtime Install..." while trying to login into your Samsung Techwin (Hanwha) camera?
Yeah, I've been there, and I know how frustrating it is to install the plugin several times, adjust the I.E., properties, try different browsers and still see this message.
Don't look any further. I have the perfect solution that works 100%.
Microsoft no longer supports Silverlight
Since October 12, 2021 (a day before this blog post was written). Microsoft no longer support the Silverlight plugin, so you need an effective solution to this issue.
How to solve the Silverlight issue
Stop trying to change the I.E. (Internet Explorer) configuration.
A blog post by Hanwha Techwin (which now owns Samsung/Wisenet cameras) explains how to solve the problem with some web browser settings, but it does not work for most of the cameras or I.E., versions.
The simplest solution is to use the Avant Browser, which was designed to emulate different browsers and work with various plugins such as Silverlight.
The following picture shows the page where you can download the browser.
It's free. Just download it and install it on your computer.
The next step is to enable the I.E., compatibility, as shown in the picture below.
And that's it.
That is pretty easy, right?
No more endless hours trying to figure out a solution to this problem.
Now, you can just open the web browser and log in to your camera.
Enter the username and the password, and voilá...
Now you have the image on the screen!
Yeah, I know... you are grateful for this information, aren't you? 🙂
