Whoever told you this was expecting you to believe this.
Landing on water at a high speed is like landing on concrete, hence nobody survives when diving off a high platform into water (theoretically speaking).
Pilots are not trained in simulators for water landings because simulators are not able to give accurate detail of any breakup or such. Pilots are only trained for a single engine flameout due to bird strike as well!
The pilots had experience and rigorous training on their side! Bravo.

when you would have a swept back motion happening it can cause a horrible accident on water other than a runway. most planes don’t make it landing in the water. its actually safer on a runway than water. water can surround your plane and tear it apart. this pilot did a better job than 90% of the pilots out there.

it’s easier to land the plane on water than on the runway, especially with the river a mile wide and practically unlimited length and these pilots are trained in the simulator to do this so there is nothing special about this…

The 2nd one was the one that bothered me most. Up close was perfect. Those cameras all use infinity ans as small an aperture as will expose the recording medium - in focus up close?
