CCTV in my back yard, do I need to put notice up?
In England, so any advice on English law please. I have a record of the CCTV camera to the majority of my backyard today. No other 's private property is covered by the camera. ¿I need to put ads in a way that is on the film I should never need to use the recordings for legal purposes? There have been several reports of theft and criminal damage in our street recently, and the camera. Now I 'm confused? Best out of three? Might need video evidence, as I keep my bike in the back. It 's my only transportation and I' ve already made a steal. What is within the law.

not if it is only viewing your backyard. That property belongs to you and you have the right to record it without advising people. Just like how you can record anything in ur house without telling people.

Why not ASK the local Police Service’s “crime prevention officer ” to come round and have a look and give you an opinion ?
Couldn’t hurt , right ?

Hi, I would suggest you to put up a “CCTV cameras in operation” sign in a place where people can notice. This will make sure that:
1) One of the primary reasons why you should put up security/cctv systems on you property should be to prevent people stealing stuff and its secondary that you catch them on cameras after the event. So if you want to prevent people stealing stuff make it obvious that you ARE WATCHING.
2) If you are by law required to put up a sign, you will be safe.
Hope the above helps.
